The Sonoma Land Trust did a informative guided tour of a portion of the Sears Point Trailhead with history, and news about the many improvements that ate happening to restore the natural landscape. It was fun to see the pickleweed, and learn that it's important to stay on the paths and avoid stepping on it because it only grows 1mm per year. Wow there are lots of old pickleweeds out there. LNT pack it in pack it out. I will bring a trash bag next time to pick up.
Peaceful views of wetlands. Level hikes on unpaved dikes.
Nice views. The parking area is a ridiculous distance from where the trail begins and the views.
Be warned about car break-ins, don't leave any valuables inside your vehicle. This is what has become of California, very sad.
Nice hike along the levee. Very relaxing. Almost no one there.
I travel up to Petaluma about one time a year to visit Shollenberger Park. In my way back I take a road that goes right by this place. I can't believe I never really noticed it before. I found it on a map not intending to come back to Petaluma so soon, but I'm glad I did. The pads, the birds, and the surrounding hills, along with wild flowers made this a place I want to come back to again.
