Cool place for a hike. Some neat old buildings and history about the area that has been lost as the march toward "progress" has continued since the 1800's. The main house is a good representation of how we envelop and drowned previous cultures since the "farmhouse" was built over the Miwok chief's home.
This is one of our go to short hike locations. A lightly strenuous 3-miler around Loop Trail, mostly shaded so still ok in the summer unless it’s really hot. If you go counter clockwise you get the “up” part over and done with quicker. (It’s steeper that way.) In addition to hiking, there are some reconstructed Miwok kotchas, the (ruined) Burrell mansion, and a Visitor Center. $8 cash for parking.
Actually bigger than I thought. Took the loop trail, at first it seemed that it was never going to end after many loop backs but it did end up way up in the canyon and looped around the other Hill and back down towards the village. Actually ended up being a great hike. Parking is $8 cash and The visitor center doesn't always have the right cash. I really don't think there's any reason the state of California and the California state parks cannot have a way to electronically buy daily parking passes. Other than that great little bits of history on that site.
Beautiful place to hike and see birds (Quail, Wild Turkeys, Red Tail Hawks, Turkey Vultures & Golden Eagles?)
Was a great historical park

Great hike
Will come again if i’m looking for a good hike or if friends are coming over state park is so much fun
