Absolutely beautiful place to drive through.. the houses are insane and gorgeous... You literally drive into a garage which is the very top floor of the house and then the rest of the house is below that because the houses are all built into the sides of the mountains. So interesting to see and look at.. I would highly recommend the drive during sunrise or sunset. You can pull off on to the sides at the top of the mountain and watch the sun rise/set. We went to Grizzly Peak and it was well worth it. Highly recommend visiting this place!!!! 🫶🏻🫵🏻🫰🏻
This trail has been on my priority list for a while now and thankfully I waited till this time of the year as Fall has just sprinkled its wonder all over these already magical trails. As I arrived, my son also decided to join me so I hiked one trail and waited for him. We had so much fun today 09/30/22 as he pushed me to hike to the peak and complete all 4 trails. Sibley trail was challenging for me going from the lower Huckleberry trail. The view of the Bay is absolutely gorgeous from this trail. Enjoy.
Got there early on a weekend (7:30ish) and there were many parking spots in the lot. 1 stall restroom facility w/o running water is available by the entrance. Lots of mist in the beginning of the hike that burned off after a while. Great signage and beautiful manzanitas.
Huckleberry Botanic Preserve boasts a gorgeous variety of rare native plants on nicely maintained trails. Walking through the canopies of manzanitas and oaks, you’ll find the critically endangered pallid manzanitas with their red bark, and dozens of massive canyon live oaks. Ferns cover the hillside, growing around the pervasive giant bay trees. The upper trail is almost completely flat, with the lower trail being more strenuous with steps. If you visit, be sure to read the informational signs, and don’t take or disrupt any of the plants.
Nice challenging trail. We did the lower Huckleberry to upper Huckleberry loop. A lot of beautiful foliage, stairs, inclines, and great view. It was a little confusing on which way to go. Wish they had more signs with mileage and better directions.
