Great open space in the peninsula and close to 280 freeway. Parking can be limited on weekends so best to arrive earlier to enjoy the nice hiking trails that vary in length from 1 to 4 miles or more if you loop and cross park. Lots of birds and deer in the park and occasionally some mountain lions and rabbits. Trail in shaded in parts and open in others. Terrain at times is not flat due to runoff when it rains so be sure to have good grip in your shoes. There is a nice water bottle fill station right at entrance so you can fill up or top off. Good area overall for a couple hours of hiking with hillside views and still close to city.

First time there. Gorgeous, gorgeous hiking trails marked really well. Visit the education center the volunteers in there are so helpful. We spoke with John. Very very kind man, who gave us a lot of information about the park. We bought some souvenirs too. They have a board there that's magnetic and every Wednesday they go onto the trails and see what things have bloomed and they add it to the board so you know exactly what animals, insects and flowers you may see!
    We will be back!!

Magnificent park. Wildflowers in the spring, views anytime. I've seen quail, rabbits and deer as well as birds of prey and otherwise. Most paths have gentle slopes and many have tree coverage. It's become my favorite hiking destination!

Beautiful and easy to navigate hiking and exercise preserve with beautiful views, lots of wildflowers, birds and other animals, public facilities, and moderate to easy difficulty. This place is truly special and can be reasonably navigated in 2-3 hours!

The parking here can be tricky, so be prepared to walk a bit to the trailhead. We didn’t have much trouble on a Saturday at 11:00 AM. The parking lot is free and restrooms are located at the bottom alongside a welcome center.

The trails are good for beginners. Most of them are covered with trees but there are stretches with no shade so bring sunscreen. You can pick your loop but be prepared to hike at least 2 to 3 miles round trip with a moderate incline. There are lots of beautiful birds, inserts, and reptiles alongside the trail.

Advice for newcomers: Bring sunscreen, be CAREFUL of poison oak, use the restroom before going on the hike, bring water, and remove valuables from your car.

Highly recommended and one of the best hiking trails in the Bay Area!

It is a nice park with many trails most of which are not difficult. Some are shaded but most are not. You can see highway 280 on one side and the San Francisco Bay on the other side. Lots of wild flowers. We saw 2 deer and a few lizards. Quite a lot of parking. But on a Wednesday morning we still had to park outside on Edgewood Road.
