Soma Community Church

Soma is an amazing church! They are the most welcoming church I have ever experienced. You walk in the doors and it feels like you have just entered into your living room. The way they live out the gospel and their emphasis on being missional in their communities is so awesome. And the children's ministry is SO good! The leaders teaching our children care so deeply about them and it shows! I love this community!

SOMA is a family and it is the place I most feel like I can be who I am. SOMA has encouraged me, stretched me, and taught me more about grace than I ever knew. I have a more accurate view of who God is and who I am because of SOMA. People at SOMA share the truth about what they are going through and love/support each other in the midst of joys and struggles.

We meet weekly in missional community groups to learn, grow, pray and support each other in being the church outside of our time together. We believe that church is not an event you attend, but it is a group of people displaying the love and grace of Jesus in the everyday.

I am also grateful for the mission focus. Once a month, our missional community meets in Concord to feed a group of homeless people who we have developed relationships with. We don't go to fix them but to love them right where they are. We take our kids on mission with us to teach them that life is about serving Jesus.

I love this church and can't imagine my life without it!

My family has been connected to Soma Community Church for the past 2 years. We were new to the Bay Area and have quickly built several deep and meaningful relationships through the church. Soma is relaxed church that is open to the community. I resonate with the emphasis on the Gospel, living as the church in the everyday and reaching out to serve others. I am thankful for this church and have invited others in the area to visit.

When a friend suggested that we check out Soma, my husband and I had just moved to Berkeley and weren't sure if we should go to a Sunday gathering a half hour from where we were living.
But we did go and I'm so glad we did!

After checking out the Sunday services a couple of times we decided we wanted to be a part of this church. The people were so open and real, and the pastors were down to earth. The sermons challenged us and because the church was pretty small we were able to get to know people quickly.

So we got involved by joining one of the missional communities, a smaller group of people within the church who support each other and have a missional focus of serving our community. Our missional community has become family to us. When we moved to our house in Pleasant Hill, they helped us move our stuff and start unpacking. When we were landscaping our front yard, they came over to help us with the labor.

God definitely led us to Soma, and we are so grateful for this church community! So if you're thinking about Soma, no need to wait any longer. Come check it out!

This church is so great! It is different from any church I've been a part of. People are welcoming, the sermon is real, applicable, and sometimes interactive. The people are genuine and the music is great! My kids love the children's program and learn a lot. People that attend authentically live for Christ. I would highly recommend people coming to check it out!!!
