Amazing views. Great walk from Crown Point parking lot all the way to Faction Brewery and back. Reminds me why I love Alameda!
Quiet, a good place for processing deep thought and relaxation.
It’s a wee bit awkward rating a public park like this one because it doesn’t promise anything more than being public park-like. So, since it does fulfill this general criterion, I have no basis on which to hold any stars back.
Yet, in its name is a promise to be a “shoreline” park, and by golly it certainly is that in a spectacular way. The views of the bay, with SF and the peninsula across it, and those of the area around Alameda Beach are always breathtaking (to this reviewer, at least). So much so that I come away after every time I take in those views wondering why I felt such a strong urge to snap more photos even though nothing has really changed since all the other times I took photos as a result of the same strong urge. My guess is that somehow the unimpeded vista appears unbelievable and impossible to describe to anyone afterwards (or to try to conjure back up in my memory after I’ve left) so I attempt to capture it, along with my sense of astonishment, through snapshots. It never works out this way, of course, just like when one snaps a photo of a spectacular scene with the moon. But at least explaining this urge to attempt to get that shot may show how impossible it is to tell or show you what you’re missing if you don’t see it for yourself.
Anyway, for this superlative shoreline experience, this park probably deserves a sixth star.
Great park on the San Francisco Bay. Lots of grass areas. Great for fishing. There are benches and picnic tables scattered throughout the area.
It's a lovely place to go for a walk - alone, with a friend, or your dog(s). There's a great view of San Francisco, and on a day like today you can see the layer of pollution over the city and a long line of container ship waiting to dock and deliver their goods. Walking, biking, running, doing tai-chi exercises, people watching, bird watching, or catching a ferry to San Francisco..you can do all that in a beautiful setting
