Dr. Massoumi is exceptional. After having severe, acute bronchitis and coughing for months my GP ordered an X-ray and CT scan. Then I was referred to a Pulmonologist and found Dr. Massoumi in Novato.

First, he is the most thorough doctor I have ever met. He had hand-written notes prepared to discuss my entire medical history with me. (I have never seen this before). Then he showed me the CT scan and explained my lung problem in a way I could understand. Then he discussed the lab tests we needed to run and the oral and inhalent medications he wanted me to try.

I followed this plan until my second visit and my cough is much improved. Now we are trying other medications to find the simplest and best treatment. He spends a lot of time explaining everything to his patients.

I waited until after my first follow-up visit to write this review just to be sure. I'm so happy I found Dr. Massoumi, and so close to my home in Petaluma. I thought I may need to go into the city to a big hospital to find exceptional care, but I did not. Thorough, professional, knowledgable, and friendly best describe Dr. Massoumi. This is exceptional care in my opinion.

I have been diagnosed with COPD (sadly, never smoked) and changed from a pulmonologist in Santa Rosa to Dr. Massoumi for better care (referred by my partner, who sees Dr. M).

Dr. Massoumi counseled me on my breathing and apnea issues and recommended some changes that have helped me manage my symptoms better. More importantly, he noticed something in an x-ray (ordered by another doctor) that made him approve my request for a chest CT, which found a spot that warranted a PET scan, which called for a biopsy (having later this week).

I'm reflecting that if I had not transferred to him I'm certain that if this happens to be a malignancy, it never would have been discovered with the inadequate care I received at the former pulmonologist. Dr. M takes the time to explain things thoroughly and I have full confidence in his skills and thorough care. The office staff has been great, as well.
