What a cute little neighborhood park with a beautiful view. I really like the play structure, and there's a bathroom here. The freeway is loud, but if you look around, there's a lot of nature around.
It is a nice little park, I like taking my pooch with my kid. Dog has plenty is space to play fetch, and my kid likes the play structures and spinner.
Surprisingly quiet on a late Saturday morning. Bring sunblock and hats on sunny days because there isn't any shade here. The playground for 2-5 YO is a bit underwhelming. No swings or movement equipment. Otherwise, good for letting the kids roam.
New park. Many small trees growing up around and meadows flowers. Very clean restroom. No parking next to playground. Only, if you walking a little bit to the " Ranch 99" direction . But it is safe sidewalk.
This park is new. It officially opened on March 2, 2018. It has turned an awkwardly shaped and sloped piece of land into a nice neighborhood amenity.
At the time I write this review (March 3, 2018), a fair amount of the park is still fenced off to allow the initial groundcover to take hold.
The biggest attraction will, I think, be the playground structures. There are two sets, 1 fenced and designed for kids under 5, the other unfenced and designed for ages 5-12 (per the signs posted).
I doubt Peggy Thompson Pierce Street Park will become a significant destination for people who don't live within walking distance for the following reasons:
1) It's just too close to the freeway. The freeway dominates all views and contributes significant noise. There is no way that anyone might call this park "peaceful" unless a major accident has stopped all freeway traffic!
2) Unless you have a handicapped placard, parking is on-street in an area that had nearly full on-street parking before the park was built. In other words, I don't recommend driving here!
With that said, I think there are three groups of people who will see this park as a great addition:
1) Families with young kids who live within walking distance
2) Bicyclists using Pierce Street (for whatever reason) as it provides a place to stop and rest a bit
3) Anyone who is nearby and needs to find a public restroom!
