We went for a weekend hike. The day before it rained a bit a there causing a lot of mud. Around 1.5 miles of road was covered in dirt making the road slippery. However that did not deter the hike since it was expected.
The last mile is particularly difficult since there is quite a lot of elevation gain. The complete hike was very scenic with a very pretty view of the whole bay area, a lot of green and a lot of cows!
There are benches to rest every half a mile that also act as markers.
Reaching the top definitely feels like an achievement. It is a difficult yet very satisfying hike.
A beautiful mountain that offers numerous hiking trails and wonderful sights all over. At the summit you can witness the view of Bay Area and rest of the hills around. The hikes are moderate to strenuous depending on which one you pick. Not much areas of shade so gets lots of sun screen, water and food. The spring is most magical time to get here and explore. The fall timing is great too. Would totally recommend to check this place out if you are in town.
Moderate hike. Usually crowded. Free parking starts from 6:30am but spots are limited. It's better to find a spot in the vineyard avenue and walk to Standard trailhead.
This place is better to hike during winter through spring when it's green and beautiful.
Get your fitness checked with this hike! Views are worth every single minute. Carry sufficient water as per individual requirements. Maybe some coffee too in a thermos to sip at the top.
Tip: Start as early as possible. Right when the hike opens. You’ll avoid the crowd and get to see sunrise over the valley.
Hiked from Stanford side in early morning on a cloudy day. Beautiful journey. Clouds seems to transcend from the heaven on the upper side of the hike. While starting hike, weather felt warm but it was very cold on the top. Don't forget to stay hydrated. Medium level trail. Many people tend to not follow trails even though there are multiple signs urging people to stay on trails. Please follow the trails strictly to conserve environment from erosion.
