Carquinez Strait Regional Shoreline

Dry, golden hills, soft curves, thirsty for rain. Hot, steep. Carquinez Strait, far below. Shades of blue, silver blue in distant Suisun Bay. Oak woodland, deep rooted, Laurel canyons, welcome shade.
Hiked after at the Martinez Sunday farmers’ market, worth a visit. Buy fruit, coffee, bring water.

This is a fantastic trail for bike or on foot. Lots of nice views of the strait Benicia and Vallejo can be seen across the strait. Port Costa is a short ride after the trail. Benches along the way to take in views, picnic or rest. Porta potties in a few places too. Beautiful fog today.

Really nice walk. Paved the whole way. Great for wheelchairs, strollers, bicycles. Restroom in the parking lot, but no water available

A lot of trail options available. Free parking. Free admission. Easy access just outside of downtown Martinez.

The hike really hit me hard today. On the way up the hill between sprinting uphill through micro swarms of blood-brunch-hungry mosquitoes, I nearly puked from the intense incline. Granted, this would be a beautiful place to puke if the need arises.. 🤔

Once you get up the hill and catch your breath, you're rewarded with a beautiful hilltop walk. I'm Lord of the Rings, y'all, epically strolling across the vast open hilltops.

Really good time. Can't wait to go back.

Love this place. I've been going here since I was a kid. Breathtaking views & a great place for dogs to run around and be free.

Also want to have an adventure. There is a rope swing. Passed the trail that leads down to Rankin park, there is an old wind mill. There are 2 trails. One leads up & one leads down. Take the lower trail. About 100 yards to East of the wind mill. Next to the trail on the left is a tree line that when you go through it, it opens to a rope swing.
Also a small hint. Another trail passes right next to the rope swing going north.
