3/18/2023 While visiting the Hornet. Visit this museum. 3 floors. 3rd floor has trains. Only open on weekends. 10am to 3pm.
Great place, easily overlooked, but great place of history. Nice WW1 exhibit as well. Main focus is the China Clipper with some Hornet and Macon as well.
Huge area, countess planes. Unfortunately no WWII piston fighters, but many bombers, and early jets.
The inside part of the museum is small, but crammed with interesting items and photos.
A really nice museum about WWI, WWII, and history of the Alameda Naval Air Station. This museum has many nice collections.
This museum is independently run by a group of senior volunteers who previously worked at the Navel Air Station. The volunteers are really nice and knowledgeable. The museum is short-staffed compared with how many exhibits it has. Admission is now free of charge, but donations and volunteers are much appreciated 👍
