South Novato Animal Hospital

My 10 year old Labrador is a huge part of our family. He is so sweet and loving but also a great guard dog.
I’m sure anyone and especially the postman think he is a train attack dog when he hears them approaching our house.
Unfortunately he hates going to the vets for his various ailments and shots. He has to take sedatives the night before and 90 minutes before his appointment. I cannot get him into the clinic otherwise as he weighs 100lbs.
The staff at South Novato Animal Hospital, take their time making him comfortable before any examination or treatment is done.
My dog had a couple of shots yesterday and a yearly examination.
The who process took 45 minutes because the Vet made sure my dog was comfortable with everything.
If my dog didn’t care the whole process could of taken 10 minutes.
I really appreciate the sensitivity that all the people that work there have.
I couldn’t recommend this place more.

We started with South Novato Animal Hospital in the summer of 2022 and are highly impressed with Dr. Justin Bonetto and the whole staff at SNAH, who can be best described as caring, kind, compassionate and very friendly. Our oldest Goldendoodle just ruptured a cruciate last week. He needs TPLO repair surgery, so SNAH will bring in a speciality surgeon to do so. At first we were given an appointment 3+ weeks out for the surgery, but when I explained our desire to do it sooner, due to our personal schedules, they made a concerted effort to bump the date up and called us back immediately with an earlier surgery date. So appreciative of their follow through and quality customer service.

The staff at the South Novato Animal Hospital were very friendly and knowledgeable, and the doctor was easy to talk to and she was very patient and friendly with my cat and gave me great recommendations of how to care for my kitty.

I absolutely love this vet. I had two senior kitties, one with pretty intense health problems, and I always left feeling like they were as invested in her quality of life as I was. They were kind, and honest about when it was time to let her go. Our other kitty has started having some kidney problems and again, the standard of care is incredible. I feel like every single person in that office cares for each pet as if it were their own. I also love how many treatment options are given, traditional medical treatments as well as some holistic medicine like acupuncture and CBD. Highly recommend.

Starshine is a Chi-Pin rescue, born in Mexico, that I got from a shelter. He had been abused by his original owner, and his mom and litter mates had all been adopted, leaving him there in a cage alone with a nearly tragic level of anxiety disorder. The first three weeks I had him, he did nothing but shiver and hide. Slowly he came around, but trips to the vet have always been completely traumatic, resulting in howling and whimpering, with days of melancholy and shaking and anxiety to follow. At SNAH, Dr. Medina and Michaela first thoroughly charmed this dog, who liked both of them immensely, and then they gently guided him through a physical exam and vaccine shots---and even managed to get his nails trimmed without any problems at all. ... They have absolutely GOT THIS DOWN. They way they touch their little patients and talk to them is simply beautiful. And they let the animal set the pace: if there's a fear reaction, they back away, wait for the animal to relax, and then very gently continue. They also are extremely good at explaining what they want to give the little fellow and why, what to expect from vaccine reactions, when to seek emergency help, and what's on the bill. Having watched this poor little dog go through so much, it's hard to even express how grateful I am to have found this extraordinary animal hospital and these spectacularly gentle and competent people. P.S. The reception staff are incredibly efficient, competent and ... kind. I can't commend South Novato Animal Hospital highly enough. If you have a pet with any kind of anxiety disorder, you will be blessed to find these people.
