Excellent park for accessing the Redwoods in the bay area. Several historical sites can be found along the shaded trail. Picnic areas and camping sites along the river are well maintained. Highly recommend this SP if you want to have an easy paved trail for hike or biking.

Like the Salmon sign on the bridge. We didn't find salmon but several Salamandridae in the river during early June.

Beautiful camp sites and hikes in the redwoods. Our camp site was large but the parking space was tiny. The sites next to us were tiny. They are all close enough you can hear the road, but it was quite at night. The group picnic area is in a cathedral of Redwood trees. The restroom have running water and were clean.

A great place to view a variety of red caps and other mushrooms in the spring. Towering redwoods and a nice, open trail along Salmon Creek. Campsites and firewood for sale. A lovely deli near by with yummy sandwiches, other deli foods, wine and groceries. Campsites can get pretty booked during the summer, but if you book ahead it isn't impossible to book a spot. And during the spring and fall you don't need to book well in advance. Lots of picnic benches for day outings and ample parking. On-site firewood for sale. The hiking trails offer a meditative flat trail for easy long walks (I've seen someone with an electric mobile chair on this trail, so it's accessible in this way) and some uphill trails. Great for mountain biking. $8.00 for a day pass but free with Golden Gate State Park pass. This is honestly one of my favorite places to hike and camp.

Important note on the mushrooms: I found the cluster of picked mushrooms on the log when I was out on a hike. I took a picture of this find, but if you see mushrooms, please do not pick them. It is not allowed.

Great paved bike trails (Cross Marin Trail) accessible from Azalea, the day use/picnic area. It’s quite crowded on weekends especially warm summer days.
Towering redwood trees make the picnic area all shaded and cool.
There are about 6 bike & hike campsites that can be used without camping reservations as a walk-up which has been moved from site 1 (H/B) at Creekside to site 26 at Orchard Hill temporally (2022). Regular campsite are very hard to come by and no walk ups hardly ever available in summer weekends.
Dogs on leash are allowed. Some inexperienced campers are far too loud late into the night without following Quite Hours rule (loud at 1 am!). So be prepared to deal with some patrons who may not fully read quiet hours posted at the park or leaflet. Most campers will be quiet once you’d approach them about the rule that’s written on the paper map given out when you check at the kiosk.
