Very cool old yet still active cemetery in what is left of the town of Purisima, CA. Abt. 5 miles south of Half Moon Bay, CA.

I never thought this place would be here in a million years I driven up the highway to the lighthouse and are always passed the exit to the cemetery you are never knows a cemetery there is surrounded by natural trees nature it's a very beautiful place but the common person would not even suspect a cemetery is there but it is with plenty of people and it.

A cool old cemetery from the 1800's. A person might think Purissima Cemetery is as much of a ghost town as the town of Purissima California is definitely past the ghost town stage and well into being reclaimed by nature. But looking through the grounds today I found a marker placed in 2001. Reading a bit more it seems that members of former Purissima receive free burials. Very nice Purissima Cemetery has be take over by a new owner and reactivated into a working location

Purissima Cemetery quiet, calm and picturesque location will make it a great choice for any interested in a Natural Burial ground. Even though I will eventually be created and spread at sea, Green Burials really appeal to my sense of burying a body in harmony with nature.
