Awesome campground! Amazing experience in the redwood forest. Very dark and quiet during the night.

Loved this campground! It’s sure off the beaten path, tucked away in the forest hut super pretty! I didn’t catch his name, but the man who checked us in was super friendly, happy, and seemed to really love his job. Tent site #44 is easily the best site there is! You’ve got your own little bridge, and it’s surrounded by fallen trees. Super pretty site. There’s no cell service at Portola.

Serene park for hiking camping and more! A numbers of trails are closed due to the fires in 2020. Some of the bridges are also out for the season, and should be back in business by April. RV (no hookups) and tent camping are available and can be reserved through reserveCalifornia.com. Special call out to the park staff. Answers your questions and support you with a smile. Be sure to ask for recommendations on trails, as they know the park very well. No cell signal, so be sure to let your family/friends before you set out for this park!)

This park is a majestic place. It was our first time to the redwoods and we got a true forest experience here. You feel like you’re on Endor! The grounds are well-kept, there is firewood for purchase at $10 a bundle, hot showers for 50 cents and up. There are great easy trails perfect for kids and lots of gigantic redwoods. The “crumb clean” mentality is no joke. The jay birds are ruthless and we’re thrilled when they found a dropped cracker. There are tons of meat bees that are seemingly harmless but annoying. I wish I had been better prepared for the bees and mosquitoes but other than that we had an amazing time.
