Our Lady of Fatima Byzantine

. The Russian Byzantine Catholics have been fleeing antichristian Communism for a century. I took my Confirmation class in March 2022 to their outpost in San Francisco. We were there for the Veneration of the Cross on the Third Sunday of Lent (Julian). The confirmands now have a better understanding of the word "catholic." And they will be better able to judge whether Mass is offered with reverence as well as an improved sense of what is truly happening, i.e., the representation of the Lord's Sacrifice, to which attend all the angels and saints of the Church Triumphant. †
. The Liturgy of St. Basil is long, but it is a fit offering to the Lord, as all Holy Masses should be: We should do our utmost to emulate Abel the Just. Fr. Kevin, Fr. Deacon Kyrill and their helpers do so. The chanted prayers come fast but are well articulated.
. Parking is free on the street on Sunday. The church itself is quite small. It is lovely, with decorated beams and beautiful reproductions of classic icons. Everyone is very welcoming. Folding chairs are offered. Both species are given together at Communion. (You can kneel or stand. Do not say "Amen.") I highly recommend getting there for the "3rd Hour" prayers 15 minutes before the start of Mass. After Mass, get a sandwich and drive a couple miles west to enjoy Lands End.

Very reverent Liturgy, recommended for Christians of any denomination to visit and experience!

Very welcoming and small parish in a small chapel on the north end of St. Monica's Church. Russian Eastern Catholic, was more Orthodox than some Orthodox churches I have been to recently. Deacon Cyril a great guy. At irregular times the chapel is open during the day for prayer. Also right up the street from the Russian Orthodox Church where St. John Maximovich body lies incorrupt.

This chapel, though nominally Catholic, and truly eastern Catholic, still has icons of St. John Maximovich and St. Seraphim of Sarov. Whether your interest is historical or religious I suggest you check this place out. Very modest chapel lacking even a full iconostatis yet my favorite along with St. Anne's Byzantine Catholic in SLO.
