When I first got to Olympia House for my 30 day stay, some of the other residents whom I lovingly call "frequent flyers" assured me that, of my other options I was looking at, I'd essentially hit the rehab jackpot coming here.

Any one star reviews you'll find here are from people who fail to understand that rehab facilities and staff can only help you or your loved ones if you/they are ready to put in the effort to recover from addiction. If you participate and most importantly LISTEN, the staff there is incredibly equipped and eager to assist you.

The facility is on a farm, which isn't everyone's cup of tea, but the inside of the buildings are cleaned daily, and the food is not just plentiful, but actually delicious. The animals have recently been incorporated into therapy on the weekly "wellness day," which is the sole reason for choosing this rehab for some people. They also allow people to bring their dogs for an additional fee (I'm not sure what the policy is for service animals).

Night staff does their best to come up with fun activities like movie night, dice games, and karaoke so that residents can experience some normalcy in a very low time for their self esteem and mental health.

Areas of betterment would be the staff shortage and hectic schedule changes I experienced in my collective 40 days there, but it's worth noting that the job is high-stress and often worked by people in recovery themselves, so turnover is imminent. They do their best and you can see the effort. Therapists do have an issue with publicizing private client conversations, which was by far the most upsetting thing.

They can also tend to play favorites with the residents, and form biases against some who are genuinely trying their best but perhaps don't have the most palatable attitude. If you're truly going to rehab with intentions of getting and KEEPING your body and mind clean from substances, these glitches are worth working through, and a solid foundation for your recovery can still be achieved in spite of them. I would say your chances are better here than anywhere else.

At the end of the day, I am not only alive because of Olympia House, but my days aren't spent suffering anymore. That's an experience worth recommending.

By far. the best (out of 7 total) rehab facilities I've ever been to. They actually do trauma therapy, and you get sessions with a licensed psychologist twice a week, in addition to your drug counselor. The very best therapists I have EVER worked with. And the best drug counselor I've ever had.

I've been looking for therapy like this, and the answers I got at Olympia House, for 20 years. They are the most skilled, caring, and professional team of people I've ever worked with in mental health. I'm dual diagnosis, so I've been seeing professionals for my mental health for 20 years.

Some of their curriculum is custom, developed in house by the psychologists there--you won't find tools like these anywhere else. I have a custom designed "addictive system" I use every day to track where I am in my recovery and mental health. I use this not only to prevent relapses, but correct myself if I run off course, and this works not just for substance relapses but also things like depression, anxiety, and anger.

Their website doesn't reflect this, but they take Kaiser Permanente now. That's the only reason I was able to come here.

I know reviews are inflated on the Internet, but please trust me, I swear with every fiber of my being and every ounce of integrity I have, this is likely the best rehab in California. If you have trauma, and most people do, or some form ,of PTSD, this is the place you should go.

They also focus on finding meaning and purpose in life--and they will definitely help you with that.

They also allow you to come back to the rehab twice a year for 2-3 days for free! They call it a "tune up". No one else I know of does this. There's also free group therapy (a process group led by one of the therapists there) once a week via Zoom.

I would wake up many times in OH in disbelief that this place exists at all, and that I got to be a resident here. They've made an enormous difference in the outcome of my life.

Olympia House saved my life twice. I’m sad to see the bad reviews because that was so far from my experience. The staff is loving and care a great deal. Most are addicts so truly understand. I continue to work with the therapist I had when I was there over a year ago. No rehab is a magic wand. You have to want it and be dedicated to make it work. I still visit there often because it became my safe space. Although sometimes it was incredibly difficult and made me want to leave at some points, I was able to dig through my traumatic past which has led me to still be sober today.

I can't speak well enough about Olympia House- I sincerely have a new lease on life thanks to the orchestrated efforts of their stellar staff. I stayed for over 30 days- and although it was absolutely the most emotionally taxing thing I have ever had to do- it was the most transformative.

Unlike most rehab centers which are 12-step based- OH is evidence-based and teaches you emotional tolerance, relapse prevention, and a TON of processing groups and individual therapy to get down to WHY you drank. Not just praying to God for another day sober (which works too for some people).

Of course, there are 12-step meetings available on-site and some 12-step education since this is the standard in peer-based recovery but they do not push one program over the other. There are also Life Ring, SMART Meetings, and Refuge Recovery.

The staff there are world-class and know what they are doing. Of course there are administrative hiccups that occur (see some of the other posts) - which do occur when you are managing a large group of people. But they pale in comparison to the life-changing treatment you will receive here.

The therapists are knowledgable, compassionate, and highly-skilled. The Drug and Alcohol Counselors are wise, empathetic, and insightful. The kitchen staff are SUPER friendly! The rest of the staff are friendly, accessible, and ready to help.

Please, if you are considering making the choice to change you life for the better- consider Olympia House. I am so grateful that I did.
