Mount Tamalpais East Peak

If you are looking for one of the most beautiful views of the bay area and a hike, do you want to come to East peak. We live in Mill valley and in car to get to the base of peak it takes us about 30 minutes. One thing to note is they charge for parking and they only take cash so make sure to bring cash to pay for your parking. Once you are out, it’s a short hike less than a mile around the peak and you’ll have spectacular views of the bay area.B depending on when you go if it’s early in the morning make sure to bundle up because it does get cold up there. And make sure to bring your phone or camera to take some of the most amazing photos.

What an amazing spot! We parked at the highest point (closest to the East Peak). Parking was available, make sure u have $8 in cash. If not, there’s a QR code that directs you to follow instructions to pay via credit.

Beautiful views! Driving up to the parking lot is scary and made me so dizzy. It was also scary because there are so many bicyclists. Once you get to the lot, it's a short climb up the path to the peak. I'm terrified of heights so the worst part was being so close to the edge the whole time. The path and climbing up wasn't that bad physically though. Coming down, we accidentally came down a path that was roped off at the bottom but we didn't know we weren't supposed to go that way since it wasn't roped off at the top. It was way easier coming down that way though, especially because it wasn't on the edge. I 10/10 recommend going here!

We had a friend’s family gathering for a hike at Mount Tam. We hiked about 2.5 hours, starting from the East Peak. The view from Mount Tam East Peak was breathtaking, San Francisco, entire Bay Area, and the Bay were just out there. We were lucky that the weather was perfect as well, with half of the sky was covered with clouds, and you could only see one orange tower from the Golden Gate Bridge. Originally planned to watch the sunset, but we were too tired after the long hike, would leave it for the next time! Cheers!

Allow 2 hours stay for sunset pictures. Park at Visitors Center. Strenuous hike for 20 minutes to reach the East Peak tower. The scenery is well worth it. If you're lucky, you'll even get to see the colorful sea of clouds, from above.
