First time at this campground and there is alot to like. Unfortunately the rangers told us that we cannot go in the water since we can get sick from the algae that was growing there. We had two dogs and they said not to let them near the water because it will get them really sick for the same.

No matter the campgrounds was great. Lots of shady areas where you can set up the tents. This campground includes a bathroom and shower. There is also a store at the entrance so you can purchase ice, firewood, and snacks. There is a river by our campsite and a lake just a few minute drive from said campsite. The lake is beautiful and was cooler since there was a small breeze coming in.

This can be a good or bad thing but this is a family camp ground. It was me and a few other adults without kids and next to us were a bunch of kids that were disrespectful and loud. Parents barely interjected when they were on our side of the campground. On the other side we had parents who taught their kids to be respectful and not disturb us while we were hanging out. Had beers and chatted with them. Overall it was a good time despite the little children being loud past quiet hours.

Really amazing camp ground - tucked away and quiet. Plenty of hiking and fun to be had. Great park supervisors and staff!

My favorite camp ground in east bay. There is a creek right next to the camp sites. I stayed at 38 and 40 in the past. My favorite camp sites. They have showers as well.

I love this place . Besides the constant fight against flies and bees and also the long distant walk to the area where your dogs can swim with you and enjoy the water. Everything else is great. The showers are roomy the bathrooms have ample amounts of tissue and are clean..the payphone yes I stated payphone only cost 50 cent and works. We stayed on campsite number 46 for our 4 day campout. Enjoyed watching the wild turkeys trot around the campsites trying to find scraps. They are pretty brave. The sale slushys at the little store near by. Wish they had different sizes and also that they stayed open longer. The ranger lady at the kiosk that gave us our parking passes and site pass was pretty cool, friendly and understanding. They only have 2 car spaces on each site than only allow 1 more car in the overflow parking area. Absolutely only 3 cars. Which also sucks. Other than that its a beautiful lake to swim in no matter whats side of it u pick to frolic around in for the afternoon. U will want to be in the beautiful water to escape the heat in the summer. Also don't forget shade wherever you go and buy spray. Even though the flies are braver than the turkeys, even with buy spray them guys come straight at ya. Grrr. And u can bring bikes to ride around.

Really great family friendly campsite! Awesome lake nearby with lifeguards and free life vests for the kiddos. Wonderful for picnics and fun. Be aware that there are ticks and poison oak (although the rangers have done their best to make sure there aren't, it is nature, so there's that).

We went for memorial day weekend and it was HOT! but the experience was great, cool families all around, everyone was very respectful about noise and music levels. If you forgot or didn't buy enough firewood, a ranger drives around in a truck in the early evening and you can buy extra on the spot. The store is open until 9, and there are family activities at the amphitheater (maybe every weekend? When we were there, there was a kid's movie outside right around sundown time – so cool!)

Really looking forward to going back soon. Incredible sky at night, big open spaces for my 5 year old to run around, nice paved loop around the campsite for bike and scooter riding, nice flat level ground to set up a tent. If you are new to camping or if someone in your family thinks that "it's not for them", give this one a go. They will be pleasantly surprised, and you just might make a camper out of them. Loved this spot. Will be back.

Also: free showers!! And they are clean and great!! (So are the bathrooms)
