Kathleen McDonough Physical Therapy Associates

I've been seeing Kathleen for a few years for chronic issues as well as new injuries that have occurred in my mid-40's. I love that she is immersed in the Pilates world, since it looks at the body as a whole and how to maintain overall physical health and strength. Kathleen is thorough and thoughtful. She's knowledgeable with her treatment plans, and effective with her hands-on treatment. I'm very happy with my experience and will continue to see her. I even recommended my husband see Kathleen for an injury that wouldn't subsist, and she was able to lessen the pain immediately.

I first came to Kathleen when I was diagnosed with degenerative disc disease and had a lot of lower back pain. She was recommended to me and I was lucky enough to find her. Before the pandemic we started in her studio and I was walk through the exercises to relieve my pain but also prevent further damage and injury. She taught me how to move the right way pick up things the right way to get in my car the right way and start exercising and not being afraid to do so.

When the pandemic hit we moved everything online and I was doing video calls with her weekly and walking to get exercises I bought the book she recommended to fall along as an illustrated guide and also with consistency was able to do the returns on my own with her guidance through video chat.

I look forward to being back in her studio at some point and further progress my understanding and knowledge of Pilates but also celebrate the fact that I have more movement I have less pain I’m able to do things I wasn’t able to do before because of her guidance.

Honestly, I would give Kathleen 10 stars if that were an option. She is smart, kind and patient. She is able to evaluate and problem solve many different physical issues. She has treated me for a very confounding group of symptoms involving pelvic alignment problems, lumbar rotations, and sacral torsions. As a PT myself, I can attest that these are not simple to sort out and treat effectively. I am always better after 2-3 sessions. She is also an expert with acute spine problems, peripheral joints and how they interact with each other. She implements manual therapy for joints and soft tissue with exercise (Pilates certified), and modalities as needed. She does it all. She can treat everything, but I highly recommend her for any musculoskeletal symptom that doesn't make sense.

I was in a lot of back pain after my twins were born, and my doctor was very pessimistic, saying I would inevitably need help with kids, perhaps drugs, and ultimately a spinal fusion. Caring for 2 babies stressed me out, and I really needed to be able to de-stress by cycling and swimming. Kathleen was amazing!!! She taught me how to do Pilates Mat routine at home, on my own. I have never had such a solid core and overall physical strength! 13 years later, I am still swimming and cycling and doing Pilates Mat--NO drugs or surgery needed! THANK YOU KATHLEEN!

Kathleen McDonough has taught me so much about my body and has helped me regain flexibility in my back. I have been to her beautiful office and have also done telehealth sessions with her. In both situations she is able to listen and observe and give clear instructions.
