Great place to grab lunch or supplies after a paddle at Mike's Paddle, or fishing at the harbor mouth. The bahn mi and salmon plate are local favorites!
An unlikely place to find home cooked soul food that reminds me of my mom's soups. The winter melon soup is the best. I've also tried the salmon with coconut rice and kabocha squash - delish, pandan cake, bahn mi grilled chicken. Great quick meal after a paddle.
Summary: delicious options for a warm meal, friendly and quick service, sizable portions at affordable price. Check it out!

Salmon melts in your mouth. Wild caught Alaskan over coconut rice with sweet and sour sauce. 3/4 inch steak, generous serving and moist. Ten dollars at Harbor Mart Market at Ballena Isle marina. My reward after work on a summer Sunday morning. She persuaded me away from my regular bahn mi since salmon an occasion.
Chicken bahn mi for $10 worth a special trip. I bicycle across the island just for one.
One of a kind spot, charming wine barrel tables and comfy chairs, mosaic ceramic cafe tables to sip your Vietnamese ice coffee.
This place is a treasure. The owner is a sweetheart, warm and personable.
Enjoy the bay breeze, views across the water, the marina and paddle boarding. Great bike destination.

What a gem!
From the owner who is super pleasant, welcoming and down to earth. To the convenience of this place - let's face it Ballena island is out in the sticks compared to the rest of Alameda. And you know what , that community got it spot on. Locally run, VERY fairly priced with delicious Vietnamese food and drinks - but don't worry your usually suspects ie green tea and latte are there too.
Mike's paddle growing community surely also brings its crowd there.

Super amazing and welcoming owner! I was on an evening stroll with my daughter and the place was closed. The owner waved to us to come in. I said we were just scanning the menu and I was interested in the tofu sandwich since I am a veg but I am not hungry and will come in again another time. The owner decided to give me the sandwich to try for free. I refused and said I have to pay. She settled on $1. I ate the sandwich the next day for lunch. What a delicious Vietnamese tofu sandwich!!!

The Marina Harbor Mart is a real gem. Located right on the water, they've got a bunch of snacks and drinks and are pretty well stocked. Service is pretty friendly too - you can tell this is a neighborhood market.
We got some Drumsticks for $2 a pop and were just able to chill outside in their outdoor patio area. It's the perfect spot to just watch the fog roll in and take a breather.

I mad a sumptuous lunch at this place - Thai curry with steamed white rice. It was so good. The fresh cut orange juice was rejuvenating. The owner was so kind to offer free and awesome mango ice cream - the view of the bay and the dessert just made my day.
Mango ice cream - no fat but so tasty and yummy
I love this little shop. My wife and I pop in to get banh mi and spring rolls, then sit in the parking lot and watch the bay. A pretty relaxing way to have lunch
Was super excited to discover this little mini-mart/cafe on a random walk. My friend and I had the Vietnamese coffee and egg tarts which were delicious! I should have taken a photo. Such a treat on a cold rainy morning! The lady who runs the mart was also really lovely and fun to chat with.
My girlfriend and I love this corner market. There’s a delicious selection of snacks, craft beer, home made foods like desserts, bahn mi sandwiches, egg rolls, spring rolls that we tried but there are a bunch of other things in the menu. Someone told us to try the salmon, so we will have to come back for that. Very sweet owner who built the place and very helpful. You can sit down out front with an amazing view of the bay and sf skyline.
