Just inside the Main entrance of the SF Ferry Building, you'll immediately see the line forming and then the aroma will hit ya. Get yourself in line and begin the difficult process of deciding which ones to walk away with. And that's just the empanadas, now on to dessert! Good luck with that. Banana, chocolate, caramel? Oh my. Highly recommend this place, no matter how long the line, as it does go fast, the service here is incredibly productive. Have your card ready, or they'll be waiting... on you! And how embarrassing that would be, right?!

The Women were singing genuinely while taking my order and handing this Traditional Argentinian Empanada to me. They were not sining as a put on, it was genuine. Do you understand? This is for the Traditional Argentinian Empanadas with flour. I normally only review Pizza, but Empanadas are a very important food and El Porteño deserves to be the one review outside of Pizza. They were singing genuinely. Authentic Traditional Argentinean Empanadas. Respect.

We stopped at El Porteno for some empanadas and were not disappointed! We’re vegetarian so we got the Fugazzeta, Champinones, and Maradona. All were amazing and tasted really fresh - they are a bit on the small side so splitting 3 amongst 2 people was a bit like a snack. Definitely recommend in you’re in the Ferry Building.
