A very peaceful place for a walk or ride if you don't mind the wind.
This place is a gem and much needed respite while traveling. Pull in for en route camping after 4pm and pull out by 9am. It is $12 or $10 for seniors. There are three spots open now, and I estimate they are about 35 to 40 feet long. There is separate tow vehicle parking. Water is available but not for hook ups. Trash bins, recycling and portopotties available though they do require you to have your own toilet. This was the only criteria. No tents and no cars. Woman at the fee station was super friendly and let us in at 3pm even though we were early. She was very informative and looked like an older version of Jeneane Garofalo from Reality Bites. We had one neighbor. Had a pleasant and quiet stay, though you can hear some traffic and occasional city sirens. We pulled into day use the next day with no extra charge. The Benicia SRA includes part of the San Francisco Bay Trail and Dixon Point has a lovely sunset. Many people fishing, jogging, walking with dogs on leash, and many picnic tables and parking spots for day use. Very strong 5G cell connection. You must take two nights off before returning to camp again.
Absolutely peaceful! Spent the night with no problems and felt completely safe. During the daytime lots of people jogging/walking. Beautiful view of the bay and hillside. Definitely will be back soon. $12.00 a night is an excellent price for state dry camping! They do have water, grills, tables and port a potty.** RV camping only **.
Needed to escape the valley heat, Benicia State Recreation Park delivered. Review is based on camp ground only. Not day use area (seeing that tomorrow.) On June 26th only 2 of 3 camping spots open. Great dry camping. Spot 2, which was closed, and spot 3 have easier access to a water spigot if needed. Port-a-potties near the camp grounds which are right near the pay station. $12 a night first come first serve. Great breezes, nice rangers, friendly people. Will be back the next time the valley is in the 100s.
Great park for camping, fishing and hiking. Gas and shopping near by. Walking path into historical Benicia.
